Dave Brighton/ KD7GIM began studying computer programming in 1970, as a Junior at Central High School, Phoenix, AZ. Two keypunch machines were donated to the high school, and Fortran IV was taught there. Punch cards were submitted to Mesa Community College to be compiled on paper tape, and these programs were run batch on the college’s IBM 1100 Mainframe Computer.

As personal computers became more affordable, Dave began studying programming again with the Mid Range IBM AS-400, and RPG-400 language. The college computer could be accessed on a students personal computer utilizing MochaSoft 5250 Emulator Software. RPG programs could then be written to the AS-400 Computer from home, or at the college’s extensive Computer Laboratory at CCSN’s Cheyenne Campus, Las Vegas, NV.

After moving to Washington State, Dave studied C++, Microsoft SQL, and VB-6 at Renton Technology. Mr. Brighton complimented those studies by completing several years of work on personal projects using the C# language.

Dave is also a General Class Amateur Radio Operator, an avid backpacker/ photographer, and a frustrated golfer.

Dave has been a member of IBEW Local 640, Phoenix, AZ since 1991 as an Inside Journeyman

Wireman. Dave now resides in Chandler, AZ.

PS: I should mention the things I have not studied in college. These include: Software Development, Administration, Advertising, and Directing Personnel. Now I have studied these things.
